Default Is is possible to have Nightfall first profession and Faction second profession?

I can't seem to go to Cantha to choose either Assassin or Ritualist as my second profession. It seems that I need to complete the quests "Time is Nigh" and "Plague in Cantha" but I can't seem to start the question line w/o choosing a second profession in Nightfall first. Is it even possible? Has anyone been able to do it?

thanks.

Seems like I need to finish "Time is Nigh" before going to Tyria as well. Sigh, I bought both Faction and Nightfall anticipating creating a RP character as Dervish/Assassin and I can't seem to do it.

Unfortunately, this is a game design for all three chapters where you essentially have to complete the tutorial, one of the requirements being to choose a secondary profession, before being allowed to continue through the rest of the game or move to other chapters. I posted a suggestion to change this some time ago to allow those of us with linked account easier ways to choose chapter specific secondaries, but only through overwhelming support will Anet take notice and change it.

As it is now, you have to complete 20% of the respective campaign (70% in Prophecies), and reach ascension before you can change your secondary profession. Too much work in my opinion for those of us who already know what builds we want and wish to play them from the start.

You need to pick a secondary for now then do the quests to get to Tyria or Cantha. For Cantha you will still have to finish Nahpui Quarter Mission to get to where the Profession Changer is then you can unlock Rit and Sin for your Elonian Character.

Couldn't you go to the Great temple of balthazar and talk to the prof changer?
Or did they get rid of him?

I tried talking to the profession changer at the temple, and he said I needed to be ascended or closer to the stars before I could change.

Don't worry. Just chose any secondary. Do the quest to get to Cantha. Then do 2 missions (I'm pretty sure it's two) and you can change your secondary again, but to a Faction profession.

Also, once you hit the mainland. There will be a profession changer that will allow you to choose a factions secondary. That is to say after 4 missions and a few quests you can make your D/A (that is what I did).

It's also easier than trying to do the 2 required Cantha missions in something less than max armor.

Does this work on a character that hasn't been to Cantha yet? I've only been here with characters that already had sin and rit unlocked. If so that is a welcome change in policy.

It seems like it should. Dervish and Paragon secondaries are now available in Senji's Corner for characters who haven't travelled to Elona yet, as well. Happy hunting.

As a role-player, I really have no desire to keep playing my Dervish unless I can more or less just select Assassin as my secondary in Elona. The story that I created for him doesn't involve him being any of the other professions prior to becoming an Assassin. It ruins my character by selecting a temporary profession until the mechanics of the game allow me to do otherwise.

(But I will say that the game, especially the Heroes, is incredible.)

Okaaaay..... If you can't take yourself out-of-character long enough to get to the profession changer in Senji's Corner... then no offence dude, but you have some issues.

At what level then can one change their secondary profession? In order to complete Senjis Corner in Factions, the character effectively has to be level 20. Thats not a temporarily change to the character; thats an outright exchange of the character concept.

There's a profession changer in Elona, just after the Consulate Docks mission, not 100% sure he will change you to Factions professions though...

Think about this a bit. You are limiting yourself; the game is not limiting you.
If you think about it, you aren't roleplaying correctly, either. The character story for your character would be impossible, in the context of the rules of the in-game world. The only cross-continent professions are core classes. Assassins/Ritualists are not native to Elona; they are all foreign, and thus, there would be no one to train a Dervish or Paragon in their profession, and vice versa. Just think of it as an opportunity to be creative with your character's story; you obviously do that.

On topic, the fact that chapter-specific classes are foreign to previous and subsequent chapters is probably why our characters can not start the game as combinations of them, and must instead master their primary profession to change their secondary to the other classes. They would also have to update the tutorial area of all chapters, every time a new chapter came out, to include quests, and trainers. This is probably viewed as an unnecessary complication that is easily avoided by allowing players to simply use the profession changing mechanic, instead.

I understand what you are saying...and looking at it, I will admit that I am limiting myself. Recognizing that my story doesn't make contextual sense within the Elona story (i.e. Assassins and Ritualists are foreign professions), why then should it possible for my Heroes to have Assassin or Ritualist as a secondary profession? If we are going to argue for the sake of story, then it should be consistent.
